Arrival Information

  • Check-In & Checkout Times

    Unless we have confirmed other arrangements, check-in is any time after 4 PM, and checkout is by 11 AM.

  • Parking

    Parking is free and on-street in front of the building. Because Tower Grove Park is across the street, there usually is ample parking available.

    Street cleaning happens:

    —On the building's side of the street on the first Wednesday of each month between 8:30 AM and noon, and

    —On the park's side of the street on the first Thursday of each month between 8:30 AM and noon.

    Cars parked during street cleaning hours on those days will be ticketed.

  • Transit

    If you are willing to walk 2.5 blocks from a bus stop, the Shaw Guest Suite is accessible via transit.

    Coming from Lambert Airport: Take Metrolink to the Central West End station (this is a 20-minute train ride). When you get off at the Central West End Station, look for a parking garage to the east. This is where you will find the Central West End Transit Center, which is on the first floor of the parking garage.

    At the transit center, look for the 8 Shaw-Cherokee stop, and wait there for the next bus. Here is a link to the schedule (make sure toggle to the correct day of travel and the SOUTHbound direction).

    Get off the bus at 39th Street and Magnolia Avenue. If you ask the bus driver, he or she will let you know when you reach the stop. Walk west 2.5 blocks to the Shaw Guest Suite.

    Pro Tip #1: For real-time transit info in St. Louis and more than 100 other cities, download Transit App on your smart phone. Authorize a credit or debit card on your Transit App and you'll be able to buy fares in St. Louis. If you are traveling in on Metrolink from Lambert Airport, you will pay the local fare, not the airport fare.

    Pro Tip #2: Another excellent resource is the transit feature on Google Maps.

    Pro Tip #3: The 70 Grand or the 95 Kingshighway offer much more frequent service. To catch the 95 Kingshighway bus, walk west on Magnolia to Kingshighway. To catch the 70 Grand bus, walk east on Magnolia to Grand.

    It's a delightful 20-minute walk in either direction.

  • How To Get Your Keys

    The apartment's exact address and code for the lockbox will be emailed to you three days before your arrival (or immediately, if you reserve within the three-day window). If you reserved the apartment on Airbnb, you will receive this information at 8 AM on the day of your arrival.

  • Keyless Entry On The Back Door

    The kitchen door of the Shaw Guest Suite has keyless entry (and is also keyed alike to the apartment's front door). The keyless entry code is the last four digits of the phone number associated with the reservation, followed by the check mark.

    Watch this 34-second YouTube video on how to unlock the apartment door. The door will automatically lock after 30 seconds. You'll hear a two-toned chime when the door locks.

  • WIFI

    The router and modem are in the Shaw Guest Suite, on the bookshelf under the television.

  • Heating & Cooling

    The Shaw Guest Suite is heated by steam radiators that turn on as needed to keep the whole building at about 70 degrees. If it doesn't feel that warm, call us ASAP.

    If you want the Shaw Guest Suite to be warmer than about 70 degrees, there’s a space heater in the dressing room closet.

    The Shaw Guest Suite has central air conditioning. The thermostat is on the east living room wall. You have total control over the temperature.

  • Television

    Login to any streaming services to which you subscribe like Netflix or Hulu. Logout before you leave. Local stations are available with an antenna attached to the television.

  • Black Facial Cloths

    You'll find them in the bathroom. Thank you for using them for makeup or anything that might cause staining.

  • No Smoking

    Smoking is not allowed in the apartment or anywhere on the premises. Please step outside to the public sidewalk or alley to smoke or vape.

  • What To Do With Our Laundry

    No need to strip the bed. Place all used towels and linens in the laundry basket.

  • Where To Take Trash

    Dumpsters are directly behind the building in the alley.

    Sorry, at this time, we do not offer recycling.

Other Things You Might Want To Know

  • No Bottled Water? Is The Tap Water Safe?
  • Alarm System

    The alarm will hopefully be off when you arrive. If it's on, the code to turn it off is in your check-in instructions.

    If you want to set the alarm when you are in residence, use the code that you received with your check-in instructions. (That's all you need, just those four digits, in and out.) All doors must be shut when setting the alarm.

  • Where To Wash Your Laundry

    The laundry room is in the basement underneath 4139 Magnolia. To get there, go out the kitchen entrance and walk down the fire escape, then toward the back of the building. The fire escape is well marked with the numbers 4139.

    The laundry room is at the bottom of the stairs, behind the door on the left. The door has keyless access. The code is 4139, followed by the check mark.

    Use an app or quarters for washers and dryers. In the laundry room, you will find easy instructions for the app.

  • Complimentary Bicycle Parking

    You are welcome to lock your bicycle(s) to the bike racks installed in the laundry room.

    The laundry room is in the basement underneath 4139 Magnolia. To get there, go out of the kitchen door and walk down the fire escape, then toward the back of the building to the last set of stairs. The laundry room is at the bottom of the stairs, behind the door on the left.

    The laundry room door has keyless entry. The code is 4139, followed by the check mark.

    Remember to lock your bicycle(s) securely! While the laundry/bicycle room is behind a locked door, we cannot assume responsibility for bicycles.

  • Oh no! I've locked myself out of the building.

    "Oh no" is right. Please don't let that happen. Keep your front door key to the building with you when you are out and about.

    If you lock yourself out, call 314-367-1106. If the office is closed, call the emergency number listed on the message service. Here's the let-in fee schedule:

    — $25 on weekdays and $50 on weekends between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM;

    — $50 between 7 PM and 10 PM all days of the week;

    — $50 on Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 7 AM and 10 PM;

    — $250 between 10 PM and 7 AM all days of the week.

    This fee is payable to the SF Shannon employee or representative who let you back into the building. You're welcome to pay that person directly. Let us know if you prefer that we charge your folio, and pay the person we asked to let you back in.
