The Farwig features intimate and affordable accommodations in the grand and historic Central West End. Amazing discounts for longer stays, with weekly housekeeping included.

The Farwig is a beautifully furnished studio apartment located on the third floor of a three-story historic apartment building. A small kitchen is on one wall of the main room, and  fully stocked for basic meal preparation. The Farwig has high-speed wireless internet and a smart TV with an antenna for local stations. Soak in the original clawfoot bathtub or enjoy a shower. Enjoy an excellent sleep on the top-quality Queen-sized bed. 

Before your arrival, the Farwig will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You will also find a range of cleaning supplies and toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay. Yes, the Farwig has a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, as well as luggage racks.

The Farwig is on the third floor and accessible only by stairs.  A laundromat is available in the building's upper lobby for guests.

Smoking is prohibited in the apartment or anywhere on the premises.

We accept same-day reservations, if you contact us by 2 PM Central Time USA. Upon making a reservation, you will be notified of SF Shannon House Rules. Creation of a reservation indicates acceptance of SF Shannon policies.

Weekly and monthly discounts are auto-applied at time of booking. You will always find best pricing by booking direct at SF Shannon.

If you plan to be in residence longer than a month, we accept monthly payments. There is no lease, but you must submit a rental application and pay a security deposit. Long-term guests must provide proof of their own renters insurance, or pay a nominal monthly fee for Tenant Liability Insurance. This insurance is underwritten by Great American Insurance Group and covers accidental or unintentional damage to the premises, but not to your personal possessions.

State lodging taxes apply to stays less than 30 nights. City lodging taxes apply to stays less than 32 nights.

Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow pets at the Farwig. 

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
The Farwig is on McPherson at Euclid, footsteps from fine restaurants and delightful shopping. The Gateway Arch is five miles directly east. The Farwig is within walking distance of Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art Museum, Steinberg Rink and other beloved institutions. The World Chess Club is three short blocks from the Farwig. Washington University Medical Center & Barnes Hospital are within walking distance. One-of-a-kind historic architecture, restaurants, coffee houses, and all kinds of shopping are footsteps away. Walk to Whole Foods, Aldi, and Metrolink, the city's regional rail system.

PARKING
Parking is free and on-street in front of the building. Please note: The Central West End is home to a number of bars and restaurants. These establishments make our neighborhood great, but can also lead to some challenges. With so many establishments within walking distance, the neighborhood attracts many visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. This can make parking tricky. Guests almost always find a parking spot on the block, but it may not be right in front of the building.

IS IT SAFE?
Since all SF Shannon vacation rental apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. The co-owners live within walking distance of each SF Shannon vacation rental. Rachel, Karen and their spouses have raised their families in their respective neighborhoods, and have always felt perfectly safe.

WHY THAT NAME?
The Farwig is named after August Farwig, who may be the original owner of the Cambridge, the three-story historic building in which the apartment is located. While we cannot confirm Mr. Farwig owned the building when it was built, city records indicate that he sold it on November 14, 1906. We believe the building was constructed about 1900, in anticipation of the 1904 Worlds Fair being held nearby in Forest Park.
