Schreiber Suite

The Schreiber Suite is a beautifully furnished one-bedroom apartment in St. Louis' grand and historic Tower Grove East neighborhood, near Compton Heights.

This one-of-a-kind gem sleeps up to three, with a King-sized bed in the bedroom, and a top-quality rollaway that can be set up in a corner of the living room. If you would like to use the rollaway bed during your stay, let us know. We will prepare it before your arrival.

Before your arrival, the Schreiber Suite will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You'll also find a range of cleaning supplies that you're welcome to use and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep our rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay.

The streamlined kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas range, frost-free refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cookware and dishes. The apartment has WIFI, and an antenna for local stations on the flat screen television in the living room. You are welcome to log into any streaming services to which you subscribe, through the Roku Box. There is no television in the bedroom.

Smoking is prohibited. The Schreiber Suite is on the second floor of the historic Ullrich Haus and only accessible by stairs.

Upon making a reservation, you will be notified of SF Shannon's House Rules. Creation of a reservation indicates acceptance of SF Shannon's policies.

LAUNDRY & HOUSEKEEPING
We provide weekly housekeeping. We will make the bed, swap out dirty towels and linens, dust and vacuum. Housekeepers do not wash dishes or take out trash. For your laundry, we recommend Wash Studio in Soulard. Wash Studio will pick up and deliver your laundry, or you are welcome to use their laundromat.

PARKING
Parking is free and on-street on the block in front of the Schreiber Suite. You will almost always find a parking spot right in front of the building. The spaces between the "30-minute parking" signs are for your car.

HISTORIC JEWEL
The Schreiber Suite is in the Tower Grove East neighborhood, across the street from Compton Heights and its million-dollar mansions. From this location it is easy to walk, bike or take public transit around St. Louis.

The Gateway Arch, America's Center, and Downtown St. Louis are less than four miles from here. The world-renowned Missouri Botanical Garden is a delightful 25-minute walk through some of the city's finest historic neighborhoods.

Walk to St. Louis University Medical Center. The main campus of St. Louis University is two miles north. Washington University's main campus is about seven miles from here. Barnes Hospital & Washington University Medical Center are about four miles away. Walk to numerous restaurants, coffee houses, shopping and magnificent historic parks.

IS IT SAFE?
Since all SF Shannon apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. Co-owner Rachel lives a few blocks from the Schreiber Suite. She and her her husband raised their daughters in this neighborhood, and have always felt perfectly safe.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
The Schreiber Suite has window-unit air conditioning. We pull the air conditioners out of the windows by the middle of November to clean and store them for the winter. We reinstall the air conditioners in April. If you feel like you need an air conditioner outside of this schedule, please discuss with us. We will do our best to accommodate.

In the winter months, heat is controlled by a central boiler that runs steam through the radiators. The boiler is scheduled to run 3 to 6 times a day, depending on the weather forecast.

WHY THAT NAME?
The apartment is named after Paul Schreiber. He and his wife Evelyn owned the building from 1955 to 1999. Paul was an associate conductor with the St. Louis Symphony and a composer. He loved his apartment building on Shenandoah! He was responsible for the conversion of the 2nd and 3rd floor of the building from a single-family home to three individual apartments. He is also the one responsible for the mid-century touches in this very cool apartment.
