Roland
Ingenious in its compact layout, the Roland offers intimate comfort in the heart of St. Louis' historic Central West End. Upon arrival, soak in the Roland's original clawfoot bathtub (if you prefer a shower, that's fine, too). After walking back from an excellent dinner in the neighborhood, sleep between soft sheets on the Roland's top-quality Queen-sized bed.
Before your arrival, the Roland will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You'll also find a range of cleaning supplies that you're welcome to use and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep our rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay.
Enjoy excellent lighting and special storage space for your luggage, over the closet. The Roland's kitchen is tiny but complete, with toaster, coffee maker, gas range, frost-free fridge and dishes, pots, pans and linens. The Roland has a hair dryer, iron & ironing board.
The apartment is on the first floor, accessible by climbing half a flight of stairs. A credit card-operated laundromat is available in the building's upper lobby for guests.
The Roland offers WIFI, and an antenna for local stations on the flat screen television. You are welcome to log into any streaming services to which you subscribe through the Roku Box.
Dynamic pricing ensures competitive rates. State lodging taxes apply to stays of less than 30 nights and City lodging taxes also apply to stays less than 32 nights. SF Shannon offers weekly and monthly discounts, which are applied at the time of booking. Contact us if you are a long-term guest who would like your reservation divided into monthly payments.
We accept same-day reservations, if you contact us by 2 PM Central Time USA. Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow pets at the Roland. Smoking is prohibited.
Upon making a reservation, you will receive an email with SF Shannon's House Rules, and be asked to agree to them. Creation of this reservation indicates acceptance of SF Shannon's policies.
Parking is free and on-street on the block in front of the Roland, but please note: The Central West End neighborhood, especially along Euclid street, is home to a number of bars and restaurants. These establishments make our neighborhood great, but can also lead to some challenges. With so many establishments within walking distance, the neighborhood attracts many visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. This can make parking tricky. You may need to circle the block a few times, but most of our guests don’t report too much trouble getting a spot. Additionally, you may hear noise from the bars and their patrons.
You may not need a car while in residence, though! The Roland is on McPherson at Euclid. Outside the front door is the city's fabulous Central West End, offering delightful surprises in every direction. Shopping, restaurants, supermarkets, movie theaters and much more are within walking distance. The Gateway Arch is five miles directly east. The Roland is within walking distance of Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art Museum and many other beloved institutions. Washington University Medical Center & Barnes Hospital are within walking distance, the city's regional rail system.
Since all of SF Shannon’s vacation rental apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. The co-owners live within walking distance of each SF Shannon vacation rental. Rachel, Karen and their spouses have raised their families in their respective neighborhoods, and have always felt perfectly safe.
If you're traveling with an infant, we have a pack-and-play available for a $10 one-time charge. If you'd like to use it, please let us know.
Why that name?
The Roland is named after our dad, Richard Roland. Rich owned the building from the mid-1970s until the early part of the 21st Century. The Cambridge was his first large apartment building. Rumor has it that our Mom fought the decision to purchase. Dad, we are glad that you won the contest!
Enjoy a unique accommodation as you explore the best of St. Louis!
