Roland

Ingenious in its compact layout, the Roland offers intimate comfort in the heart of St. Louis' historic and fabulous Central West End.

The Roland is a studio apartment and sleeps up to two people. Upon arrival, soak in the original clawfoot bathtub (or take a shower if you prefer). After walking back from an excellent dinner in the neighborhood, sleep between soft sheets on the Roland's top-quality Queen-sized bed.

Before your arrival, the Roland will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You will find a range of cleaning supplies and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep rates low, we do not replenish these items during your stay.

While the Roland is on the first floor, please note that the apartment is accessible only by climbing a half flight of stairs from the lobby up to the first floor. Pets are not allowed in the Roland. Smoking is prohibited in the apartment or anywhere on the premises.

Enjoy excellent lighting and special storage space for your luggage, over the closet. High-speed internet access is included. The smart TV has an antenna for access to local stations. The Roland's kitchen includes a toaster, coffee maker, gas range, frost-free fridge and dishes, pots, pans and linens. The Roland has a hair dryer, iron & ironing board.

Upon making a reservation, you will be notified of SF Shannon's House Rules. Creation of a reservation indicates acceptance of SF Shannon's policies.

LAUNDRY & HOUSEKEEPING
We provide weekly housekeeping. We will make the bed, swap out dirty towels and linens, dust and vacuum. Housekeepers do not wash dishes or take out trash.

For your laundry, a laundromat is available in the building's upper lobby.

PARKING
Parking is free and on-street on the block in front of the Roland, but please note: The Central West End neighborhood, especially along Euclid street, is home to a number of bars and restaurants. These establishments make our neighborhood great, but can also lead to some challenges. With so many establishments within walking distance, the neighborhood attracts many visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. This can make parking tricky. You may need to circle the block a few times, but most of our guests don’t report too much trouble getting a spot.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
You do not need a car to live here. The Roland is on McPherson at Euclid, footsteps from fine restaurants and delightful shopping. Walk to three supermarkets (Aldi, Straub's or Whole Foods). The Roland is within walking distance of Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art Museum, Steinberg Rink and other beloved institutions. The World Chess Club is three short blocks from the Roland. Walk to Washington University Medical Center & Barnes Hospital. One-of-a-kind historic architecture, restaurants, coffee houses and so much more are footsteps away.

It is easy to take transit to the world-renowned Gateway Arch, which is five miles east. It is a short walk south on Euclid to Metrolink, the city's regional rail system. From the Central West End Metrolink stop, it is a 20-minute ride to St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

IS IT SAFE?
Since all SF Shannon apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. The co-owners live within walking distance of each SF Shannon vacation rental. Rachel, Karen and their spouses have raised their families in their respective neighborhoods, and have always felt perfectly safe.

WHY THAT NAME?
The Roland is named after our dad, whose middle name is Roland. Dad owned the building from from 1975 until 2007. The Cambridge was his first large apartment building. Mom fought the decision to purchase to purchase the Cambridge. Dad, we are glad that you won the contest!

Enjoy a unique accommodation as you explore the best of St. Louis!
