This was a perfect place.. Very comfortable, lots of special treats— coffee beans , local beer and potato chips!!!!. Enough room for 3 of us. Cozy, comfortable sleeping quarters even with the fold out couch opened. We were visiting family and used it mainly at night. Loved being on the first floor

Great place to stay

Review by
Hey, I'm not from Main City, MO, so I don't why you're asking to describe me that way.My husband and I loved this space, the thoughtfulness with which it was furnished and stocked, and basically everything except that the bed was a little lumpy.

Jessie Benton 1st floor easy parking

Review by Ansel H.
We needed to be close to Barnes Jewish Hospitsl and thisxwas close and easy to get there. It was great to have a first floor apt with close off the street parking. Very old building but was what we needed. Grocery and pharmacy were within a block. It was clean and rental agents were very helpful.

Cozy & Convenient

Review by Erin J.
We had a great stay to celebrate my mother's birthday! The location is very convenient and the apartment is perfect. We appreciated the little luxuries like the lux linens, local coffee and gourmet chocolate bar. We enjoyed visiting STL attractions including the Zoo, a concert at the Fabulous Fox and the Botanical Gardens (pictured), then chilling during our downtime watching the big screen and playing Scrabble. Too bad the weather didwn't cooperate by giving us the brisk fall days we'd hoped for, but the apartment AC kept us refreshed even when it was 95 & humid outside. Thanks for a great experience.

Home away from home

Review by
We recently traveled to St. Louis to visit our daughter who lives in the central west neighborhood. We didn't want to stay in a hotel because they just don't feel comfortable. We stumbled on the Jessie Benton suite and were thrilled. We had a bedroom, living room and a cute kitchen. It was a very walkable area as well. It was exactly what we wanted. AND we will be back!

Perfect solution

Review by Stephanie M.
This was so much better for our family than a motel room! We could cook a nice breakfast and wash our clothes as needed. The suite was comfortable and decorated so tasteful. Loved the tall ceiling too. The beds were very comfortable and felt right at home in them. Never had a dimmer in the bathroom lights before. Plan on using this again to visit my son who moved in on the fourth floor while he attends SLU.

Nice place

Review by
This is a nice small place. Very noisy location since the apt. is on the first floor next to a busy street corner. People walking down the sidewalk can look in the bathroom if the blinds aren't closed. Bathroom sink could be updated but overall a nice place. Location is ok, a few blocks in one direction could get you in a scary neighborhood. The supplied snacks are great. Bed is comfortable.

This apartment was a real treat! Difficult to find a better location- close to SLU, Wash U, Forest Park, The Loop. Easy to get to and parking is just a few steps from the door. Grocery store across the street, pharmacy nearby, multiple restaurants. The residents of the apartment building are very nice.If you need to stay near Wash U Medical Center (Barnes Hospital, Children's Hospital, etc) this would be a great place also

December Birthday Trip

Review by Tony C.
We enjoyed staying at this property for 4 days while on a short trip for my sisters birthday. We mainly chose this location for its closeness to her apartment. The location was perfect for us. We found it to be as described except there was no computer as shown in the photos. It was small but very quaint and very clean. The refrigerator was even stocked with a few items. We had everything that we needed for our stay. The weather was quite cold during our stay but we stayed very comfortable while there. Overall it was a pleasant trip. The location was near several restaurants and fast food places. We ate at a couple and they were very good. There are two pharmacies, a bank and groceries nearby. We only had a couple of issues while there. Upon arrival, the parking spots we were given were occupied by some workers trucks and the television in the living room was not getting a picture. A quick phone call to the managers had both problems solved very quickly. They were very friendly and responsive. It is a very old building at a fairly busy intersection so we noticed some noise from the street and residents coming and going. We had no trouble sleeping well though. The bed was very comfortable.

Thank you for your detailed review, Tony! The Jessie Benton Suite was our very first Vacation Rental apartment. (We've been hosting guests there for eight years now!) I didn't realize that we still had a photo of the desk with a computer on it. I apologize for this, and just removed the photo. When the apartment is vacant, I'll get another photo of the lovely antique desk on which people may sit their own computer. Future guests can be assured that we offer dedicated high-speed Internet service, available via both WIFI and a modem in Jessie Benton Suite. Thanks again for your review, and Happy Birthday! ~ Karen

Cute, small, first floor off lobby

Review by
Very good communication with management. One BR, LR and galley kitchen. BR small but very functional. Nicely furnished and cozy. Parking is very easy and accessible. Immediate neighborhood is very commercial, and apartment is on Lindell, which is a busy street. A few blocks away are SLU and residential Central West End which has lovely houses and quiet streets. The major issue is that the apartment is directly off the lobby of the building which can be noisy when anyone comes or goes from this large apartment building. As the window's to the apartment are on the first floor there is a sense that privacy is limited unless the blinds are closed.

Cute Getaway Suite

Review by Dawn S.
The pictures of the Jessie Benton Suite are spot on. Everything was as posted and was very quaint inside. I'm a "band mom" and another band mom and I were in St. Louis for a band competition. We were looking for a location near the Dome at a good price point and this was the closest thing in our price range. I slept on the sleeper sofa and it was quite comfortable. My friend said the other bed was super soft. There was plenty of hot water for showers and a Q'Doba right across the street which was perfect since we didn't have a rental car. I will say that the room is on the ground floor, right at the front of the building so there is street noise and the comings and goings of other residents. Good thing they provide a bottle of ear plugs in case you need them! They had several amenities that made you feel right at home. I would recommend the Jessie Benton Suite and would also recommend arriving during daylight so you can get the lay of the land.

The Jessie Benton Suite at The Fremont exceeded expectations. The property description is 100% accurate, with my friend and I were delighted with all the amenities. We lacked nothing to make our stay comfortable and fun. The suite was clean and well-maintained, with the property manager accessible and helpful. Excellent location for walking, sight-seeing, shopping, and catching a good meal. Highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

Accessibilty x 2

Review by Kyle G.
My father, mother, and myself had an excellent stay! It was great for my father, who has difficulty walking far and cannot use stairs. The parking is very close to the front entrance and the apartment door is just another few feet inside. The apartment was also very close to everything that we wanted to do. While it is an older place, it was well maintained, very clean, and had several nice touches. My parents got in before me and found the service to be friendly and helpful. I slept on the sofa sleeper and found it to be comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to friends and would stay here again!

A Quaint stay in STL

Review by Ann-Katherine S.
We really enjoyed our experience with SF Shannon and our stay at the Jessie Benton Suite. The after-hours directions were very clear and we found the place very easily. The suite was clean and adorable. We had coffee and chocolates waiting for us in the kitchen, as well as breakfast options in the fridge. We were very close to the Central West End area which we spent most of our time. We had a great stay!

Cute Suite Apartment

Review by
I travel often and haved stayed at many a AirBNB and VRBO. I had a lovely time here at the Jessie Benton Suite. Stayed for 2 weeks and all my needs were met. The bed and living spaces were very comfortable. The kitchen, while small, also had anything you could possibly need to make a good meal. The only thing I can say that was under par was the building and location itself. It was clear that this is a low-income building, while the tenants were all very kind, I did hear loud obnoxious hip-hop music in the hallways often, saw people walking around in Moo-moo's and PJ's a lot. Because of the building and location I felt my stay was overpriced. I paid $95/night I think it should be more around $70/night.

Manager Response:
Daniel: Many thanks for your kind words about the Jesse Benton Suite itself. We're distressed and disappointed, however, to learn of your apparent problems with the rest of the building. The Fremont is, as you suggest, a quintessentially urban apartment house and a very large one at that. As such, it certainly does contain an extremely eclectic group of tenants. We're thrilled to learn that all of the full-time residents were very kind to you; our experience is that they are very fine people indeed. But the demographic is not overwhelmingly the one that your comment might imply: Full-time residents include everyone from people living on fixed incomes to graduate students at both St. Louis University and Washington University. More importantly, we greatly regret that you never contacted us in a timely manner to report the "obnoxious hip-hop music in the hallways." We very, very rarely receive complaints of this sort and when we do, we always attend to them in a prompt and timely manner. Had you called us about the loud music, we would have made it go away within a matter of minutes (we have both an on-site caretaker and a janitor in the building on-call 24 hours a day). We're also disappointed that you think that the Jessie Benton Suite is overpriced. Given the enormous cost that we've invested in the apartment we really can't charge less for a short-term stay. And if you were to compare the quality of the Jessie to that of other short-term stays in the neighborhood, we think that you'd find it to be a good value indeed. Believe it or not, the Fremont's neighborhood is a much more highly-priced place than your comment suggests. One of the owners of the Jessie lives literally right around the corner from the building. A "destination" Scottish pub and a wonderful new "gastropub" are only two blocks to the south. And another two blocks in the same direction takes you to one of the few urban IKEA stores in the entire nation.

We enjoyed three weeks in the apartment. Everything was so clean and cozy. Lots of extras were enjoyed such as snacks, breakfast items upon our arrival, cleaning weekly, newer pots and pans, wonderful bed, and even Holiday decorations. Excellent Place to Stay!

Review by Dawn K.
Our stay at the Jessie Benton Suite was fantastic. The owner, Karen, thinks of everything... she included delicious snacks, as well as some very yummy breakfast food in the refrigerator! The place was clean and very cozy! Plus, in a very nice part of town and plenty convenient to downtown... only a quick Uber or cab ride away. We will definitely stay again when in town and will recommend to friends as well! Thanks so much!

What a great apartment. We felt like we were staying at a friend's home. Everything we needed or wanted was there. Karen left us code, bagels and fruit as well as other treats. The location was convenient to everywhere we wanted to go and was a homey place to come back to at night. I'd highly recommend this spot and dealing with this company. We were in St. Louis visiting family. This was a great way to have our own "little place" with a kitchen. It was just a few blocks from a few nice bars and restaurants. The apartment was very clean, nice treats were given to us for our stay and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Karen is incredibly nice and very easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again.

A Cozy Apartment in St Louis

Review by
Karen was wonderful to work with and very friendly and helpful. We have no complaints with service or amenities. All the little extras provided were lovely to make a home away from home. The location was super convenient for getting to everything. But if you are a light sleeper, as we are, this might not be the place for you. We live in a very quiet suburb, so all the hustle and bustle of being in the middle of it all was difficult to get a good night's rest.

Handy & Welcoming!

Review by Karen L.
It was like visiting a good friend who'd left us her apartment for the weekend. The stocked fridge, helpful maps and attraction brochures and comfortable surroundings were very much appreciated. Got a little loud when the utility truck parked outside the AC vent, but was surprisingly quiet for it's location on a main thoroughfare. Easy to find. Easy access to St. Louis attractions. Would highly recommend the Jessie Benton Suite at The Fremont. Thank you, Karen!
