The Abbey is a sunny and lovingly furnished studio apartment on the third floor of the Lindell Park Apartments, a historic building across the street from St. Louis University. Move in with suitcase! The apartment features a full kitchen with all the basics for meal prep, all linens, ironing board, iron, and much more. The Abbey sleeps up to two, with an excellent quality queen-sized bed. Three-night minimum required. Lower rates offered for weekly or monthly guests.

The Abbey is on the third floor of a seven story building. It is accessible by stairs or elevator. The apartment has dedicated internet with WIFI and offers complimentary SlingTV through a Roku Box, and an antenna for local stations on the flat screen television.

Dogs are welcome for an additional one-time charge of $25 per dog. Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow cats at the Abbey.

Guest Access:
The apartment is all yours! There is a shared coin-operated laundry room in the basement, and shared hallways with other guests and residents. The Abbey is wheelchair accessible.

Parking:
Parking is first-come, first-served with a permit that you'll receive upon arrival. Please note that demand is greater than supply. If permit parking is already full, you may park at any nearby metered space at no charge between the hours of 7 PM and 8 AM Monday through Saturday, and all day on Sunday.

Other Things to Note:
The Abbey has window-unit air conditioning. We pull the air conditioner out of the window by the middle of November to clean it and store it for the winter. We reinstall the air conditioner in April. If you feel like you need an air conditioner outside of this schedule, please discuss with us. We will do our best to accommodate.

In the winter months, the heat is controlled by a central boiler that runs steam through the radiators. The boiler is scheduled to run 3 to 6 times a day, depending on the weather forecast. The Abbey also features a wall-hung heater if you get too chilly between runs

The Abbey overlooks a busy arterial road. If you are a late or light sleeper, we have earplugs in the apartment. You may hear noise from the neighboring apartments, as the historic charm of the building does not include soundproof walls. We've had some guests complain about odors in the hallway, from residents who cook, smoke marijuana and/or cigarettes. We no longer rent to smokers, and want the building to be smoke-free! We have had this policy for eight years. However, when we instituted the policy, we did not force our residents who smoke to move. (Many residents who have lived in the building for decades.)

FAQ:
“How far is it to the Fox?” The Abbey is about 0.6 miles from the Fox. You should be able to walk there in 10-15 minutes. We’ve had lots of actors from the Fox stay with us!

"How far is it to the America's Convention Center?" This apartment is about 3 miles from the Center. It should be drivable in about 15 minutes, or you may take public transit.

“Is it safe?” Several of our staff members live in the building and have never had any problems. Owner Karen has lived just three blocks away for more than 30 years and absolutely loves her neighborhood! Anywhere you stay, whether in the city or county, you should be aware of your surroundings. Anywhere you park, you should never leave any valuables clearly visible.

    We were very pleased with this rental. Anne was extremely helpful beforehand in assisting us with travel details. The apartment itself was in a safe area, within easy walking distance of a Schnuck's grocery store and the Metro station at Grand. The amenities were well-thought-out and much-appreciated, ranging from the standard necessities to small, unexpected surprises: from coffee to Q-tips, tweezers to maps. Plenty of pamphlets in the desk helped us plan our sightseeing. Of special note for us were the Science Center in Forest Park and the City Museum downtown. On our last night we had an incredible dinner at Seedz, just west of the park. This was our first trip to St. Louis, and feeling like we had a cozy home-away-from-home in the Abbey made the experience that much more enjoyable.

    We arrived very late and had trouble figuring out where to park. The building is reminded us of an old dorm with lots of character. The hallway smelled like smoke but thankfully there was no smell in our room. The room was very clean and comfortable and a pleasant surprise! We were very satisfied with our decision to rent the Abby.

    What a great value for such a nice rental. It was perfect for my husband and I. We were in town for 3 nights and found the location perfect. Within walking distance of several restaurants. The rental was impeccable and Karen was accessible from the time i made the reservation to being at the rental when we arrived. The property was well-maintained and the other tenants as well as the building manager (? not sure if that is his title) were friendly. The bed was comfortable, furnishings nice and kitchen well equipped. We did experience street noise (traffic, loud music at times) but this is to be expected in an urban location. We visited in May, had the windows open the whole time, so this might not be an issue in cooler seasons, or with the windows closed. Highly recommend this rental if you're looking for a great value and convenient St Louis location.
